Therapy is a proven way of helping us to face difficulties, manage emotional stresses and to recover from challenging experiences.
Together we can explore your situation, in a safe and confidential environment, in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.
Therapy isn’t about giving you solutions or advice but empowering you to make your own changes. I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing with someone from outside your day-to-day life.
I am an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor offering therapy both online and in person in Romford, Havering and across North East London.
Skilled at enabling clients to feel safe, I am also highly effective at helping you to understand your emotions, manage relationships and stop unhelpful behaviours. Whether you are seeking short-term therapy to help manage an upsetting situation or longer-term work leading to greater self-understanding, we will work together using ground-breaking therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs.
With separate qualifications enabling work with adults, adolescents, couples and clinical supervisees, I am also one of only a handful of UK psychotherapists trained in AEDP – a trauma-informed, integrative approach combining neurobiology and traditional psychotherapy. I am also trained in contemporary CBT, the use of creative interventions, and hold enhanced DBS status for both children and vulnerable adults.
As a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I have demonstrated a high level of professional competence within the BACP ethical framework. My clinical supervision qualification further reflects the standard of care, professionalism and trust that underpin my work.
A combination of gut instinct and an initial telephone chat with me are ways of helping you decide whether or not I am someone with whom you could feel comfortable. Here is issues I have either received training in or worked through therapeutically either on a personal level or with clients…
Are you having problems with family, friends or people at work? Have people let you down in some way or broken your trust due to betrayals, cheating, or abusive behaviours towards you or loved ones? Maybe you feel lonely and want to know how to address this?
Are you or someone you know experiencing self-harm, disordered eating, compulsive behaviours, insomnia, or distressing changes in behaviour? I offer a safe, supportive space to explore your concerns about yourself or others.
Experiences of emotional, psychological, physical, sexual or spiritual abuse can have long-lasting effects, often shaping how we feel about ourselves, others and the world around us.
Are family members or you abusing drugs, alcohol or in gambling debt? Would you like to find out how to support others or how to help yourself with this and why it is that people get caught up in various addictive behaviours.
Loss and change due to bereavement, work or family issues.
Following a traumatic event, you may experience distressing symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares or heightened anxiety that feel difficult to manage on your own.
Depending on your personality and requirements, the therapy you experience with me may be either mindfulness-based contemporary CBT which tends to be more short-term and solution-focused or AEDP which is a ground-breaking, experiential, client-centred psychodynamic psychotherapy.
My teaching background has equipped me to identify compatible ways of working with individuals. To this end I may offer or suggest the use of creative interventions as well as mindfulness and relaxation if the client feels comfortable with these. I have a DBS Certificate to cover working with both children and vulnerable adults.
I work from private offices in Romford, conveniently located on the Elizabeth line in North East London, and also see clients from across Havering and the surrounding Essex area. My practice offers a calm, confidential setting for in-person therapy sessions.
In addition to face-to-face work, I also offer online therapy sessions using Doxy and other secure platforms where necessary, allowing clients to access support from home or wherever they feel most comfortable. Online sessions are available to clients across the UK.
If you would like to discuss whether in-person or online therapy would be the best option for you, please feel free to get in touch.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or if you would like to arrange an initial assessment appointment. An initial conversation gives us the opportunity to discuss what has led you to consider counselling, whether it may be helpful for you, and whether I am the right therapist to support you.
You are very welcome to get in touch in whichever way feels most comfortable for you. Either:
I am happy to hear from you and, if I’m not free to talk, please feel free to leave a voicemail with your name and number and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
